Kalamazoo College women’s basketball player MaryJane
Valade was named MIAA Co-Player of the Week.
A senior forward from Farmington Hills (Mercy HS), Valade scored a total
of 40 points in two conference victories last week. She scored 14 points
in a 59-49 win at Albion College and 26 points in a 79-62 victory over
Adrian College. She made 15-of-25 shots and was 10-for-10 at the free throw
line. She grabbed 11 rebounds and had three assists, two blocks, and a
steal.
This is the second time this season that Valade has earned the MIAA Player
of the Week honor. She shares this week’s award with Laura Poppema of Hope
College.
Kalamazoo College is 15-7 (7-5 MIAA) on the season. The Hornets close out
the regular season this week with home games against Olivet College on
Wednesday and Saint Mary’s College (Ind.) on Saturday.
