Kelley Nyquist, a junior
from Perry, Mich., has been selected to the Verizon Academic All-District
IV College Division Women’s Basketball Second Team. The college division
of the Verizon Academic All-America program includes NCAA II, NCAA III
and NAIA schools. The Verizon Academic All-District and All-America teams
are selected by the College Sports Information Director's Association of
America (CoSIDA). To be eligible for nomination, a player must be a starter
or key reserve with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20.
Nyquist was a third-team selection last season.
The 5’7” guard maintains a 4.0 cumulative GPA as a health science major.
She has been on the MIAA Academic Honor roll each year, as well as the
College’s Dean’s List every term.
Nyquist has started in 76-of-77 games during her three-year career. She
was selected to the all-tournament team at DePauw University earlier this
season, and was an All-MIAA honorable mention selection last season. She
averaged 4.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game this season, and is recognized
as the team’s best defender.
The Kalamazoo College women’s basketball team finished the 2000-2001 season
with a record of 18-8.
