Volleyball falls in five sets at Albion
The volleyball team suffered a five-set loss at Albion on Saturday, 25-17, 24-26, 25-21, 10-25, 15-12. Courtney Nartker led Kalamazoo with 12 kills. Megan Korc had 31 assists and 17 digs. Box Score

Volleyball loses close match at Saint Mary's
The volleyball team lost 3-1 at Saint Mary's on Tuesday, Sept. 23. Kalamazoo won the opening set 25-14, but lost the next two 24-26 and 24-26. Saint Mary's won the fourth set, 25-14. Anna Lau led the Hornets with 10 kills. Megan Korc had 29 assists and 18 digs. Larisa Grinvalds had 29 digs. Kalamazoo returns to action Saturday at Albion at 11 a.m. Box Score

Volleyball defeats Olivet in five sets
The volleyball team had to come from behind to defeat Olivet in five sets on Thursday, Sept. 18. After winning the opening set (25-23), Kalamazoo found themselves trailing 2-1 after falling 25-20 & 25-23 in sets two and three, respectively. Kalamazoo evened the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set. The Hornets trailed 11-8 in set five, but rallied to win seven of the next eight points to win 15-12. Kim Marble led Kalamazoo with 14 kills and 17 digs. Cate Skirving had 13 kills while Anna Lau had 12 kills and seven block assists. Megan Korc had 39 assists and 24 digs. Volleyball falls at home to Hope
The volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-23) at home to #17 Hope College on Tuesday, Sept. 16. Kim Marble led Kalamazoo with nine kills. Megan Korc had 23 assists. Larisa Grinvalds had 14 digs. Hope had 39 kills and 15 attack errors (.229) while Kalamazoo had 29 kills and 20 errors (.089). Kalamazoo returns to action this Thursday at home against Olivet at 6 p.m. Box Score

Kalamazoo Volleyball to host Shanghai Volleyball Association
The Kalamazoo College volleyball team will host the Shanghai Volleyball Association Sept. 15-27. Kalamazoo will make a return trip to China in the summer of 2009. While in the United States, the Shanghai team will compete in exhibition matches against several teams while learning about American culture and visiting leaders in the USA Volleyball community.

Volleyball splits pair of matches with Alma, Trine
The volleyball team split a pair of conference matches on Friday, Sept. 12. Kalamazoo lost the opener 3-1 to Alma (25-15, 21-25, 27-25, 25-21) before defeating Trine 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-16). In the win over Trine , Kim Marble led the attack with 16 kills and a .375 attack percentage with 12 digs. Megan Korc had 28 assists and 12 digs. Courtney Nartker served five aces. Against Alma, Marble and Cate Skirving each had 11 kills. Anna Lau had 10 kills. Megan Korc had 33 assists and 17 digs. Adrian rallies to defeat Kalamazoo Volleyball in the five sets
The Kalamazoo College volleyball team won the first two sets at Adrian on Wednesday, but the Bulldogs rallied back to win the final three sets and the match (21-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-19, 15-12). Anna Lau led Kalamazoo with 14 kills. Cate Skirving had 12 kills, while Sarah Thomasma and Courtney Nartker each finished with 10. Megan Korc had 48 assists and 12 digs. The Hornets return to action on Friday when they host a tri-match with Alma and Trine. Box Score

Volleyball finishes 1-3 at Mount St. Joseph Invitational
The volleyball team finished with a record of 1-3 at the College of Mount St. Joseph Invitational in Ohio Sept. 5-6. After splitting two matches on Friday, Kalamazoo lost on Saturday 3-1 to Heidelberg (25-21, 25-14, 18-25, 25-17) and 3-0 to Mount St. Joseph (26-24, 25-17, 25-12). Kalamazoo returns to MIAA action on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at Adrian.

Volleyball wins opening match at Mt. St. Joseph Invitational
The volleyball team won its opening match 3-0 over Thiel College (26-24, 25-22, 25-23). However, the Hornets fell 3-0 to Thomas More in their second match (25-16, 25-11, 25-18). Courtney Nartker led the Hornets with nine kills against Thiel. Kim Marble and Colleen Leonard each had eight kills. Larissa Grinvalds had 20 digs. Kim Marble led Kalamazoo with nine kills against Thomas More. Megan Korc had 16 assists.

Volleyball loses MIAA opener to Calvin
The volleyball team lost the 2008 MIAA opener 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-8) to last year's MIAA champion Calvin. Colleen Leonard led Kalamazoo wtih nine kills. Kim Marble and Courtney Nartker each had five kills. Nartker had 17 assists and seven digs. Larisa Grinvalds had a team-high 17 digs. Volleyball finishes 2-2 at Hornet Invitational
The volleyball team finished with a record of 2-2 at the 2008 Hornet Invitational. After two wins on Friday and a trip to Saturday's top bracket, the Hornets fell in straight sets to Manchester (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) and Anderson (26-24, 25-15, 25-21). Manchester was the tournament champion with a 4-0 record. Kalamazoo's Kim Marble was selected to the All-Tournament Team. Against Manchester, Marble led Kalamazoo with eight kills. Volleyball opens 2008 season with 3-1 win over Franklin; 3-2 win over Defiance
The Kalamazoo College volleyball team opened the 2008 season with a 3-1 win (25-18, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19) over Franklin College on Friday, Aug. 29 in the Hornet Invitational. Kim Marble led Kalamazoo with 16 kills and 14 digs. Colleen Leonard had 14 kills with just 14 errors (.323). Courtney Nartker had 11 kills and 18 assists. Megan Korc had 26 assists. In the Hornets second match of the evening, Kalamazoo defeated Defiance, 3-2 (25-23, 25-22, 25-27, 20-25, 15-10). Kim Marble led the Hornets with 19 kills and 18 digs. Volleyball team earns record 11th AVCA Academic Award
The American Volleyball Coaches Association has awarded the Kalamazoo College volleyball team the 2007-08 AVCA Team Academic Award. Kalamazoo has earned the award 11 times, the most of any team in Division III. The award, initiated in 1992-93, honors collegiate and high school teams that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
