Kalamazoo College Softball
April 14, 2001 at Hope College (MIAA Doubleheader)

HOLLAND - Kalamazoo lost both games of a doubleheader at Hope College today, with scores of 3-2 and 4-1.

In the first game, each team scored one run in the first inning. Both teams were held scoreless for the next nine innings until Kalamazoo scored a run in the top of the 11th inning to take a 2-1 lead. Hope won the game with a two-run homerun to right field with no outs in the bottom half of the inning.

Emery Engers (7-6) suffers the loss. She scattered eight hits, struck out four and walked two. Alicia Dicks and Shauna Sage each had two hits for the Hornets. Sage and Engers had RBIs.

Hope outhit Kalamazoo 9-5 in the second game and claimed the 4-1 victory. Elli Toskey (2-11) took the loss. Erin Rumery, Teri Fox, Emery Engers, Meredith Dodson and Sarah Martyn each had singles for Kalamazoo.

The Hornets are now 9-18-1 overall and 4-6 in the MIAA. Hope improved to 13-7 overall and 7-1 in the MIAA.
