Kalamazoo College Softball
April 10, 2001 vs. Adrian College (MIAA Doubleheader)

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a pair of conference games with Adrian College on Tuesday. Kalamazoo won the opener, 3-2. Adrian won the second game, 2-1.

Emery Engers (7-3) earned the win in the first game. She pitched all seven innings, scattering eight hits and allowing two runs. Teri Fox was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Shauna Sage was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Kalamazoo scored all three of its runs in the third inning. Tonia Yoder made a diving stop and throw to first for the final out of the game. Adrian had a runner on third and would have at least tied the game if the ball had gone through the infield.

The Hornets dropped the second game despite a strong outing by Elli Toskey (2-8). Toskey scattered six hits while striking out one and walking one. Only one of the Bulldogs' two runs was earned. Kalamazoo managed only four hits in the contest. Shauna Sage was 2-for-3 with a triple and the Hornets' only run scored. Dawn Todd and Elli Toskey each had singles.

Kalamazoo is now 4-2 in the MIAA and 9-12-1 overall. Adrian is now 2-6 in the MIAA and 7-21 overall. The Hornets travel to Hillsdale College for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
