Softball wins final two in Florida

ORLANDO - The Kalamazoo College women's softball team won its final two games in Florida to improve to 5-5 overall, marking the team's best start in recent years.

Kalamazoo defeated Manchester College 8-0 in a mercy-shortened, six-inning game. Shauna Sage earned her first win of the year, allowing only three hits with three strikeouts and zero walks. Kalamazoo pounded out 12 hits. Alicia Dicks was 3-for-4. Teri Fox had a double and two RBI's. Emery Engers and Meredith Dodson each went 2-for-3.

The Hornets defeated Elmhurst College 5-3 in the late game. Emery Engers earned her fourth win (4-1) of the year. Shauna Sage was 2-for-3. Tonia Yoder had a double and an RBI.

Kalamazoo opens M IAA play next Wednesday, March 29, when they host Adrian College at 3:00 p.m.
