Athletic Fields & Fieldhouse Renovation Project - 2011-12

Project: Complete renovation of the Angell Field Atheltic Complex and Calder Fieldhouse.
Timeline: Renovations begin July, 2011 and are expected to take 13 months to complete.
Cost: Approximately $16 million.

Details
Calder Fieldhouse will be removed and replaced with a new facility built on the southeast corner of the property and will include state-of-the-art locker rooms for each sport, a completely modern atheltic training room, and a second floor multi-purpose room able to host large groups. An expanded and paved parking lot will be next to this building with access from West Michigan Avenue.

The Football Field will remain in its current location, but will be upgraded to a synthetic turf playing surface. New bleachers will be installed on both sides of the field along with a new scoreboard and sound system. A new press box/stadium services building will overlook the field.

The Soccer Field is moving to the southwest corner where the baseball field is currently located. This new field will be upgraded to a synthetic turf playing surface and will also feature new bleachers, a new scoreboard and sound system and a press box.

The Baseball Field is moving to the northwest corner of the complex and will encompass the area of the current soccer field. The natural turf field will include a modern drainage system, new dugouts, new bleachers, a new scoreboard and sound system and a press box.

The Softball Field is moving to the area currently occupied by the baseball outfield and will sit just to the north of the new soccer field. The natural turf field will include a modern drainage system, new dugouts, new bleachers, a new scoreboard and sound system and a press box.

The Stadium Services Building will be located at the site of the current football press box. This expanded building will be home of the new football press box along with an expanded concessions area and expanded restroom facilities.

A multi-purpose field will be located on the northeast corner of the property where the softball field sits currently. This field will provide a great space for recreational activities, including club sports and intramurals.

The Athletic Fields & Fieldhouse renovations are part of the strategic priorities for the College’s future.
