Men's Tennis wins 62nd consecutive championship

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College men’s tennis team won its 62nd consecutive MIAA (Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) championship today after winning the 2000 MIAA Tournament with 117 points. Hope finished second with 81 points.

The Hornets won each of the nine flights (six singles and three doubles), and were led by last year’s league MVP Dan Harding. Harding captured the number one singles title for the second straight year and shares MVP honors with Hope College’s Paul Lillie. Harding defeated Lillie 6-2, 7-5, in the championship match.

Other singles champions for Kalamazoo include Kyle Harding at two, Ryan Shockley at three, Ryan Cummings at four, Toby Ernst at five, and Kent Dolbee at six. Doubles championships were won by Dan Harding and Kyle Harding at one, Cummings and Shockley at two, and Ernst and Casey Molenaar at three.

Kalamazoo won the regular-season portion of the MIAA season with a 5-0 dual match record.
