Men's Swimming relays break records at NCAA Championships
Three Kalamazoo College relay team set records at the NCAA III Championships March 20-22 in Oxford, Ohio. The 200 Free Relay team of Brian Bazzell, Paul Ellis, David Greiner and Craig Fleming set a school record with a time of 1:23.94. Two relay teams set both school and MIAA records: the 200 Medley Relay (Ellis, Espinosa, Dekker, Bazzell - 1:32.26) and the 400 Medley Relay (Ellis, Espinosa, Dekker, Fleming - 3:23.12). Kalamazoo finished 15th at the meet with 86 points.

Men's Swimming finishes 15th at NCAA III Championships
The Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team finished 15th at the NCAA III Championships in Oxford, Ohio. Kalamazoo's Paul Ellis earned the Hornets an additional 12 points with a seventh-place finish in the 200 Backstroke on Saturday, lifting Kalamazoo's total to 86. MIAA rival Hope finished 16th with 84 points. Olivet scored a total of six points while Calvin finished with two. Ellis earned individual All-Americna honors for the second time in the meet with the 200 Backstroke time of 1:52.91. Also on Saturday, the Hornets' 400 Freestyle Relay team finished 18th in prelims.

Paul Ellis, 200 Medley and 800 Free Relays earn All-American honors
Paul Ellis, the 200 Medley Relay team and the 800 Freestyle Relay team earned All-American honors with their performances at the NCAA III Swimming Championships on Friday, March 21. Ellis earned All-American honors with a fifth-place finish in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 50.87. The All-American 200 Medley Relay team of Ellis, Alfonso Espinosa, David Greiner and Brian Bazzell finished seventh with a time of 1:32.26. The 800 Freestyle Relay team of Bazzell, Ellis, Bobby Dekker and Craig Fleming earned honorable mention All-American honors with a 14th-place finish time of 6:56.08. Dekker finished 25th in the 100 Butterfly. Fleming was 30th and Bazzell 31st in the 200 Freestyle. Espinosa finished 21st in the 100 Breaststroke. Kalamazoo is in 13th place with 74 points after the second day of competition. Hope sits in 16th place with 62 points while Olivet is 39th (6 pts) and Calvin 45th (2 pts).

Men's Swimming competes at NCAA III Championships
The men's swimming and diving team began competition at the NCAA III Championships in Oxford, Ohio on Thursday, March 20. Kalamazoo's 200 Freestyle Relay team earned honorable mention All-American honors with a 16th-place finish time of 1:24.92. The team consisted of Brian Bazzell, Paul Ellis, David Greiner and Craig Fleming. Bobby Dekker finished 35th in the prelims of the 200 Individual Medley. Alfonso Espinosa finished 49th in the prelims of the 50 Freestyle. The 400 Medley Relay team (Ellis, Espinosa, Dekker, Fleming) finished fourth in prelims (3:23.46) and earned All-American honors by finishing fifth in the finals (3:23.12). Kalamazoo is 15th overall with 30 points after the first day of competition.

Men's swimmers head to NCAA III Championships
Six members of the Kalamazoo College men's swimming team will compete at the 2008 NCAA III Championships in Oxford, Ohio March 20-22. Bobby Dekker will compete in three individual events, the 200 IM (seeded 26th), 100 Butterfly (15th) and the 200 Butterfly (29th). Paul Ellis competes in two individual events, the 100 Backstroke (3rd) and the 200 Backstroke (12th). Alfonso Espinosa also competes in two individual events, the 50 Freestyle (49th) and the 100 Breaststroke (8th). Brian Bazzell competes in the 200 Freestyle (26th) and Craig Fleming also competes in the 200 Freestyle (21st). The Hornets have five relay teams competing: 400 Medley Relay (5th), 200 Medley Relay (7th), 800 Freestyle Relay (19th), 200 Freestyle Relay (19th) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (22nd). Kalamazoo College Swimmers earn All-MIAA honors
Eight Kalamazoo College swimmers were selected to the 2008 All-MIAA Swimming/Diving Teams. Katie Stefl was selected for the third time after winning MIAA championships in the 400 IM and 200 Butterfly. She also finished second in the 500 Freestyle. Katy Knoechel was selected for the first time after finishing second in the 100 Butterfly. Marie Stuve was also a first-time selection after winning the 500 Freestyle and finishing second in the 1650 Freestyle.

Bobby Dekker was a third-time All-MIAA selection for the men. He took second place in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 Butterfly, and was a member of MIAA championship relay teams in the 400 Medley and 200 Medley. Ryan Booms was selected for the second time after winning the championship in the 200 Breaststroke. Alfonso Espinosa was selected for the second time after winning the 100 Breaststroke and swimming on championship 200 and 400 Medley Relay teams. Paul Ellis was a second-time selection after swimming on the championship 400 Medley Relay team. Freshman Craig Fleming was selected after winning championships in the 200 Freestyle and 400 Medley Relay.

Swim teams finish 3rd at MIAA Championships
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams each finished third at the MIAA Championships Feb. 14-16. The Kalamazoo men finished with 429 points. Hope was first with 543 and Olivet second with 504.5. The Kalamazoo women scored 256 points, 19 ahead of fourth-place Olivet (237). Calvin won with 660 points and Hope was second with 556. Swim teams remain third after second day at MIAA Championships
The Kalamazoo College swimming and diving teams remain in third place after the second day of competition at the MIAA Championships. The men's team has 305 points, trailing first-place Hope (345) by just 40 points. Olivet is currently in second place with 318.5 points. On the women's side, Kalamazoo has 183 points. Calvin leads with 497 followed by Hope's 351. Kalamazoo has a 13-point lead over Olivet (170). Winning events for the men on Friday were: Craig Fleming (200 Freestyle, 1:42.08), Alfonso Espinosa (100 Breaststroke, 56.83) and the 200 Medley Relay team (Dekker, Espinosa, Greiner, Bazzell, 1:33.45). Katie Stefl won the 400 IM (4:37.32) for the women. Second place finishers for Kalamazoo included Bobby Dekker (400 IM), Katy Knoechel (100 Butterfly) and the men's 800 Free Relay team (Bazzell, Espinosa, Dekker, Fleming).

Swim teams third after first day at MIAA Championships
The Kalamazoo College men's and women's swimming and diving teams are in third place after the first day of competition at the MIAA Championships in Holland. The event runs through Saturday. Marie Stuve won the 500 Freestyle (5:09.47) for the women. Winning for the men was the 400 Medley Relay team (3:24.53) of Paul Ellis, Alfonso Espinosa, Bobby Dekker and Craig Fleming. The Hornets finished second in the men's 200 Freestyle Relay, the women's 500 Freestyle (Katie Stefl), and the men's 200 IM (Bobby Dekker).

Swim teams sweep Albion
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Albion College on Saturday, Feb. 2. The Kalamazoo men won 137-100 while the women won 143-126. Winning events for the men were: 200 Medley Relay (Brower, Booms, Dueweke, Fleming), Steve Brower (100 Backstroke), Ryan Booms (100 Breaststroke, 200 Breaststroke), Barret Mueller (200 Butterfly), Alex Arbour (1M Diving), Brian Bazzell (100 Freestyle), Bobby Dekker (200 Backstroke), and Jim Entwistle (100 Butterfly). Swim teams compete in South Bend on Friday; Host Albion on Saturday
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in South Bend on Friday, Feb. 1. The men faced off against Wabash in a meet that ended in a 149-149 tie. In women's competition, Kalamazoo defeated Saint Mary's 149-145. Winning events for the Kalamazoo men were: 400 Medley Relay (Ellis, Booms, Dekker, Espinosa), Craig Fleming (200 Freestyle), Paul Ellis (100 Backstroke), Ryan Booms (100 & 200 Breaststroke), Alex Arbour (1M & 3M Diving), Steve Brower (200 Backstroke), and Bobby Dekker (100 Butterfly, 400 IM). Winning events for the Kalamazoo women were: Marie Stuve (200 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 500 Freestyle), Katie Stefl (200 Butterfly), Katy Knoechel (100 Freestyle, 200 IM), Ashleigh Atkinson (100 Butterfly), and the 400 Freestyle Relay (Breck, Stuve, Stefl, Williams). Swim teams win at Alma
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams won at Alma on Saturday, Jan. 26. The men's team won 126-71 and the women won 126-98. Winning events for the Kalamazoo men were 200 Medley Relay (Brower, Booms, Fleming, Hennigar), Ellis (1000 freestyle), Bobby Dekker (200 freestyle), Eric Parker (50 freestyle), Craig Fleming (200 IM), Alex Arbour (1M), Alfonso Espinosa (100 freestyle), Steve Brower (500 freestyle), Ryan Booms (100 breaststroke), and the 200 Free Relay team (Bazzell, White, Kovacs, Dekker). Men's Swimming second, Women third at Hope Quad Meet
The Kalamazoo College men's swimming team finished second while the women's team finished third at the Hope Quad Meet on Saturday, Jan. 19. A scoring error originally had the Hornet men finishing third. On the women's side, Kalamazoo trailed Hope and Wheaton. Hope won the men's event. Swim teams fall in dual meets at Chicago
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost their respective dual meets at the University of Chicago on Saturday, Jan. 12. The Kalamazoo men lost 153-131, while the women were defeated 175-108. Swim Teams split with Calvin
The men's swimming and diving team defeated Calvin 147-123 on Saturday, Jan. 5, but the Kalamazoo women lost 154-103. Men's Swimming ranked 12th in Division III
The men's swimming and diving team is ranked 12th in the nation in the most recent team poll on CollegeSwimming.com. The team is currently training in Florida. They return to MIAA action on Saturday, Jan. 5 against Calvin.

Men's swimming ranked 12th in the nation
The Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team is currently ranked 12th in the nation according to CollegeSwimming.com. The CollegeSwimming.com / CSCAA Division III Dual Meet Poll is voted on by members of the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America and released four times throughout the season – November 21 (pre-invitational, December 12 (post-invitational), February 6 (pre-conference) and March 6 (post-conference). Swimming hosts weekend events
The Kalamazoo College swimming teams hosted Carthage and Hope Nov. 16-17. The Carthage men and women won both meets against Hope and Kalamazoo. The Kalamazoo men defeated Hope while the Hope women defeated Kalamazoo. Marie Stuve took first place in the 500 freestyle (5:18.78) and the 1650 freestyle (18:49.03). The men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished third at the Chicago Invitational Nov. 9-10. Paul Ellis took first place in the 100 backstroke (:53.23). Men's and Women's Swimming/Diving Teams win MIAA openers at Olivet
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams each won their respective MIAA opening dual meet at Olivet on Saturday, Nov. 3. The Kalamazoo men won 157-141 while the women won 162-123. The men took first place in 12 of 16 events. The Hornet women took first in 10 events. Swim Teams compete at MIAA Relays
The men's and women's swimming teams opened the 2007-08 season at the MIAA Relays on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Holland. The Kalamazoo men took first place in all but two events. The Kalamazoo women won the 1500 Freestyle event (Stefl, Connochie, Stuve). The Hornet women were second in teh 200 Medley Relay, 500 Freestyle Relay and 400 Medley Relay. They were third in the 200 Backstroke Relay and 200 Butterfly Relay. Swimmers earn Academic All-America honors
Bobby Dekker and Katie Stefl earned Academic All-America honors from the College Swim Coaches Assocation of America. Barrety Myers and Ryan Booms earned Academic All-America honorable mention honors.

Swim Teams earn Team Academic All-America honors
The 2006-07 Kalamazoo College men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned Team Academic All-America honors from the College Swim Coaches Association of America. The Kalamazoo men's team had a cumulative GPA of 3.140 while the women carried a 3.360. Complete List

Men's Swimming 17th at NCAA III Championships
The men's swimming and diving team finished 17th at the NCAA III Championships in Houston this weekend with 66.5 points. Paul Ellis earned All-American honors on Saturday with a third-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a school-record time of 1:50.50. The 400 free relay team finished 18th (3:11.81 - Ellis, Dmitruk, Greiner, Dekker). Other results from Saturday included Alfonso Espinosa (27th, 200 breaststroke - 2:09.82) and Bobby Dekker (28th, 200 butterfly - 1:56.39). Kenyon won the championship with 570 points. Kalamazoo led all MIAA teams with a 17th-place finish. Hope finished 21st, Albion 39th, and Olivet 52nd.
