Men's Basketball wins at Adrian
The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team improved to 2-0 in the MIAA
by defeating Adrian College 87-78 tonight in Adrian.
The Hornets trailed by as many as 14 points (20-6) with 11 minutes remaining
in the first half. The Hornets cut the Adrian lead to five to enter halftime
trailing 39-34. Kalamazoo took the lead two minutes into the second half
and never trailed the rest of the way, leading by 15 (67-52) at one point.
Brad Phillips led all scorers with 24 points, improving his career total
to 1,199. Phillips is five points shy of taking over the number 10 position
on the Hornets all-time leading scorers list.
Steve Thwaites scored 15 points while fellow senior Adam Verseput added
12 points with seven rebounds. Nathan Burns contributed five assists.
The Hornets shot 49 percent from the field, including 58 percent in the
second half.
Kalamazoo hosts Hope College Wednesday night at 7:30.
