Men's Basketball wins MIAA opener

The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team won its MIAA opener 72-47 over Alma College tonight. The Hornets scored the first basket of the game 26 seconds into the first half and led the entire game.

Brad Phillips gave Kalamazoo a 47-31 halftime lead after scoring 20 of his game-high 24 points in the first half. Steve Thwaites added 11 points and five assists while Matt Parker pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Kalamazoo outrebounded Alma 46-32 and shot 45 percent while holding the Scots to 30 percent.

Brad Phillips moved into the number 11 position on the Hornets' All-Time Leading Scorer list with 1,175 points.
