KALAMAZOO - The Hornets overcame a 44-37 halftime deficit to defeat visiting DePauw University 81-76 on Monday.

Tony Wichmann led the Hornets with 20 points and seven rebounds. Tim Herman and Ryan Konwinski each scored 16 points. Damon Krohn added nine points off the bench.

Kalamazoo shot 43.9 percent while DePauw shot 41.9 percent. Kalamazoo had just nine turnovers in the game to DePauw's 11. The Hornets also meshed 24 of 29 free throws.

Alex Stewart led DePauw (4-4) with 20 points. Austin Brown scored 17 off the bech. Steve Schott finished with 15 points.

Kalamazoo (4-6) is off until Jan. 5 when the Hornets host Alma in the MIAA opener.
