GRAND RAPIDS - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball trailed 47-42 at halftime, but Calvin pulled away in the second half on its way to a 94-64 win in the first round of the MIAA Tournament.

Calvin shot 54.8 percent from the field while holding Kalamazoo to 37.5 percent. Calvin was 11-of-20 (55%) from three-point range while Kalamazoo sank 6-of-15 (40%). Kalamazoo held a 39-38 rebounding advantage, but committed four more turnovers (18-14) than Calvin.

Jevon Caldwell-Gross led the Hornets with 17 points. Tony Wichmann added 10 points and six rebounds. Chris Elliott finished with eight points and seven rebounds.

Chris Prins led Calvin with 23 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Prins was 11-of-12 from the free throw line. Ricky Shilts added 14 points and Kevin Broene scored 10.
