
CHICAGO - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost 83-78 in overtime at the University of Chicago on Tuesday, Dec. 16. Kalamazoo led 37-34 at halftime, and the Hornets had a five-point lead with just under a minute left in the game, but the Hornets were unable to sink enough free throws in the final minute to seal the victory. Kalamazoo was outscored 11-6 in overtime.
Kalamazoo shot 50 percent from the field while holding Chicago to 43.5 percent, however the Hornets made only 12-of-30 free throws (40%) in the game while Chicago sank 23-of-30 free throws (76.7%).
Jevon Caldwell-Gross led the Hornets with 24 points and eight rebounds. Chris Elliott added 14 points with six rebounds. Tim Herman and Tony Wichmann each scored nine points for the Hornets (2-5).
Scott Fisher led Chicago with 33 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field and 15-of-17 free throws. Justin Waldie scored 16 points and Brandon Woodhead finished with 11 points for the Maroons (4-4).
