Kalamazoo College

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - Kalamazoo fell 91-82 in double overtime to Marian College in the opening game of the Wabash College Tournament on Friday. Nathan Burns led the Hornets with 19 points and eight rebounds. Burns hit a three-pointer at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. Burns also hit a three to send the game into the second overtime.

The score was tied 62-62 at the end of regulation. Each team scored 10 points in the first overtime, but Marian outscored Kalamazoo 19-10 in the second overtime to earn the victory.

Dirk Rhinehart added 15 points for Kalamazoo, followed by Scott Montmorency with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Brad Metzger led Marian with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Tim Adams added 24 points, and Derek Huffman finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Kalamazoo shot 41 percent while holding Marian to 37 percent. Kalamazoo held a 51-45 rebounding advantage. Marian was 12-26 from behind the arc while Kalamazoo hit just 6-of-28. Marian made 27-of-37 free throws and Kalamazoo made 18-of-27.

Kalamazoo (4-1) will play in Saturday's consolation game against either Averett or Wabash at 1 p.m.
