Kalamazoo College

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team defeated Albion 89-82 in double overtime on Saturday. Kalamazoo led 38-35 at halftime and had a 15-point lead midway through the second half, but Albion rallied and evened the score at 67-67 at the end of regulation. Each team scored seven points in the first overtime. Kalamazoo outscored Albion 15-8 in the second overtime. No player fouled out in the contest.

Kalamazoo shot 50 percent from the field for the game while Albion shot 45.6 percent. Kalamazoo hit 10-23 from behind the arc while Albion sank 11-of-29. Kalamazoo was 21-of-28 at the free throw line. Albion made 9-of-12. Albion outrebounded Kalamazoo, 39-32.

Dirk Rhinehart led five Hornets in double figures with 22 points, despite going scoreless in the first half. Nathan Burns scored 19 points with eight rebounds. Scott Montmorency scored 12 points. Jevon Caldwell-Gross added 11 points and Kevin Baird finished with 10 points and five rebounds.

Brett Quayle and Michael Thomas each scored 19 points for the Britons (14-4 / 3-2 MIAA). Travis DePRee scored 14 points with nine rebounds and ten assists.

Kalamazoo (13-3 / 3-2 MIAA) travels to Hope College on Wednesday.
