
ADRIAN - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team let a 36-31 halftime lead slip away as the Hornets lost 78-66 at Adrian on Saturday.
Kalamazoo pulled out to the 36-31 halftime lead on 61.9 percent shooting. The Hornets went cold in the second half, hitting only 26.3 percent (10-38) while being outscored by Adrian, 47-30. Adrian took advantage of their opportunities at the free throw line, connecting on 33-of-41 attempts. Kalamazoo was 15-of-24 at the line.
Dirk Rhinehart led Kalamazoo with 19 points and five assists. Nathan Burns added nine points. Jevon Caldwell-Gross, Scott Montmorency, and Kevin Baird each scored seven points. Nate Troyer had a team-high six rebounds.
Steve Brooks led four Adrian players in double figures with 23 points. Dan Walter finished with 18 points and eight rebounds. Chris Howard scored 17 points, and Steve Herron finished with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Kalamazoo (15-9/7-4 MIAA) hosts Olivet in the Hornets' final regular season game on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
