
HILLSDALE - Hillsdale College improved to 7-0 with a 91-78 victory over
Kalamazoo College on Monday. The game was tied 33-33 at one point in the
first half before Hillsdale went on a 12-2 run to end the half with a 45-35
lead.
Dirk Rhinehart ended his record-breaking free throw streak when he missed
his fourth attempt of the night. Rhinehart set a new NCAA III record with
84 consecutive free throws dating back to Jan. 3, 2001. He also set a school
record with 47 consecutive free throws in a season, breaking the mark of
44 set by teammate Nathan Burns last season.
Rhinehart finished with 19 points and was 8-of-9 at the free throw line.
Scott Montmorency added 13 points and Erik Rhinehart finished with 10 points.
Hillsdale held a 29-26 rebounding advantage. The Chargers shot 62 percent
from the field while Kalamazoo shot 49 percent.
Kalamazoo (6-4) travels to Purdue-Calumet on Thursday.
