
CHICAGO - Kalamazoo led 42-38 at halftime, but lost 79-72 at the University of Chicago on Saturday.
Each team shot 58 percent in the first half, but the Hornets went cold
in the second half connecting on only 35 percent while Chicago continued
to shoot well at 43 percent. The Hornets were also unable to find a way
to stop All-America candidate Derek Reich who finished with 35 points and
nine rebounds.
Dirk Rhinehart led Kalamazoo with 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Kevin Baird scored 11 points with five rebounds. Scott Montmorency finished
with 10 points.
Kalamazoo held a 30-24 rebounding advantage. Chicago was 30-39 at the free
throw line. Kalamazoo was 13-16.
