SPRING ARBOR - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team suffered
its first defeat of the season, 73-57 to Marian College (Ind.) in the opening
round of the Spring Arbor University Tournament on Friday. Kalamazoo will
play in the consolation game at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Kalamazoo was outshot (45% to 40%) and outrebounded (34-28) in the contest.
Kalamazoo committed 22 turnovers while Marian had 18.
Erik Rhinehart led Kalamazoo with 12 points and four rebounds off the bench.
Scott Montmorency had 11 points and four rebounds. Dirk Rhinehart scored
10 points.
David Meece led Marian with 23 points. Wes Carmony had 16 points and four
rebounds.
