
HOLLAND - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost its season
opener 87-60 at Hope College on Thursday. Hope led 40-27 at halftime.
Kalamazoo shot only 29.8 percent from the field while Hope connected on
51.7 percent. Hope also held a 42-34 rebounding advantage. Each team had
16 turnovers.
Tony Wichmann and Erik Rhinehart each scored nine points to lead Kalamazoo.
Scott Montmorency and Dirk Rhinehart each scored eight points.
Don Overbeek led Hope with 21 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked
shots.
The Hornets return to action on Saturday when they host Calvin College
at 3 p.m.
