
KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team held on to sole
possession of first place in the MIAA with a 71-62 win over Adrian College
on Wednesday. The Hornets are 4-1 in the league (12-6 overall) and 6-0
at Anderson Athletic Center this season.
Kalamazoo jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and held a lead throughout the
game. Kalamazoo led 30-25 at halftime.
Kalamazoo shot 42.0 percent from the field while holding Adrian to 34.6
percent. Kalamazoo had 49 rebounds (19 offensive), nearly twice as many
as Adrian (25 total).
Scott Montmorency led Kalamazoo with 20 points and nine rebounds. He was
10-of-14 at the free throw line. Kevin Baird played a major role inside,
scoring 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting with two dunks. Chris Elliott and
Dirk Rhinehart each finished with eight points.
Adrian's Steve Brooks matched his per-game average with 17 points. He had eight points at halftime on 8-of-8 free throw shooting.
Kalamazoo (12-6/4-1 MIAA) finishes the first half of the MIAA schedule with a trip to Olivet on Saturday at 3 p.m.
