Men's Basketball Defeats Alma

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team picked up its second consecutive win with an 83-71 victory over Alma College today. The game marks Kalamazoo head coach Joe Haklin's 200th career victory.

Kalamazoo led by as many as 25 points (63-38) midway through the second half. The Hornets entered halftime with a 44-28 lead.

The Hornets shot 45.6 percent from the field while holding the Scots to just 34.4 percent. Kalamazoo dominated the boards, outrebounding Alma 51-35.

Scott Montmorency led Kalamazoo with 17 points and nine rebounds, including five on the offensive end. Jevon Caldwell-Gross had a career-high 14 points in just under 13 minutes of play off the bench. Doug Lepisto scored 11 points. Chris Elliot added 10 points and nine rebounds. Mike King pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds.

Alma's Bill Johnson led all scorers with 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Sean Dick added 14 points and Rob Taylor finished with 13.

Kalamazoo improves to 8-13 overall (3-6 MIAA). Alma falls to 7-12 (2-6 MIAA). The Hornets travel to Albion College on Wednesday to face the Britons at 7:30 p.m.
