Men's Basketball Defeats Adrian

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team came-from-behind to defeat Adrian College 64-61 today at Anderson Athletic Center. Kalamazoo opened the game with a 6-2 lead, but Adrian quickly responded with a 19-2 run to lead 21-8 with 9:19 left in the first half. Kalamazoo would chip away at the lead and enter halftime trailing, 31-25.

Adrian increased the lead back to 10 points midway through the second half, and led by eight (59-51) with 4:51 left. The Bulldogs would score just two more points in the final 4:51 to reach their total of 61. Dirk Rhinehart tied the game at 61-61 with 1:34 left. Nate Troyer gave the Hornets the lead with a layup with 18 seconds left, and Chris Elliot finished the game with a free throw with one second left.

Doug Lepisto led Kalamazoo with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Nate Troyer added 15 points and five rebounds.

Adrian's Steve Brooks led all scorers with 28 points, including 5-of-9 three-point attempts. Chris Howard finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. Mike Lagger had seven points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Kalamazoo shot 46.0 percent from the field despite hitting just 4-of-17 (23.5%) three-pointers. Adrian shot 44.7 percent. Kalamazoo held a 39-27 rebounding advantage.

The Hornets improve to 9-14 overall and 4-7 in the MIAA. Adrian falls to 12-10 overall and 4-7 in the MIAA.
