Men's Basketball defeats Beloit

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team defeated Beloit College 87-77 in the consolation game of the Wittenberg-Kiwanis Holiday Tournament.

Kalamazoo shot 44.1 percent from the field and an impressive 93.1 percent from the free throw line (27-29). Beloit shot 42.6 percent from the field and only 64.3 percent from the line (18-28). Kalamazoo held a 41-32 rebounding advantage.

Dirk Rhinehart led all scorers with 26 points. Scott Montmorency added 17 points with nine reounds. Doug Lepisto scored 14 points with six assists.

Beloit led 37-36 at halftime.

Kalamazoo (5-7) opens MIAA play on Wednesday at home against Hope College.
