Men's Basketball defeats Denison

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and entered halftime up 36-27. The Hornets held on and defeated Denison University 71-62 in the opening round of the tournament as Muskingum College.

Doug Lepisto led the Hornets with 17 points and four assists. Nathan Burns added 14 points with five rebounds and Nate Troyer scored 13 points with six rebounds.

Kalamazoo shot 45.3 percent from the field. Denison shot 43.1 percent. Kalamazoo held a 32-31 rebound advantage while committing three less turnovers (26-23) then the Big Red.

Kalamazoo (4-5) will play tournament host Muskingum College in the championship game at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
