Men's Basketball loses at Grace

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team was unable to hold on to a 48-39 halftime lead as they fell to Grace College 85-82 in the consolation game of the Holiday Inn-vitational at Grace College.

Grace shot 46.0 percent while holding Kalamazoo to 41.0 percent. The Lancers also dominated the boards, holding a 46-27 rebounding advantage.

Dirk Rhinehart led Kalamazoo with 18 points, including 14 in the first half, and was selected to the all-tournament team. Scott Montmorency added 14 while Nathan Burns and Brian Benthem each scored 10 points.

Matt Abernethy led Grace with 22 points and seven rebounds. Dan Scharlach added 14 points and five rebounds.

Kalamazoo falls to 3-5 on the season while Grace improves to 7-9. The Hornets return to action next weekend at a tournament at Muskingum College.
