Kalamazoo Wins at Concordia

ANN ARBOR - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team overcame a two-point halftime deficit to win 77-72 at Concordia College this afternoon.

After trailing 38-36 at the break, Kalamazoo shot 50.0 percent in the second half and held Concordia to 41.7 percent to outscore the host Cardinals 41-34. The Hornet defense also forced 21 turnovers resulting in 24 points. Kalamazoo held a 35-34 rebounding advantage.

Kevin Baird was 9-of-10 from the floor to lead the Hornets with 23 points. Dirk Rhinehart added 20 points with six three-pointers. Nate Troyer grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Doug Lepisto had six assists.

Dave Behnke led Concordia with 26 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Bekius scored 22.

Kalamazoo improves to 2-1 on the season. The Hornets play their first home game against Purdue-Calumet on Dec. 4. Concordia falls to 1-4 with the loss.
