Men's Basketball falls at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS - Scott Montmorency scored a career-high 36 points for Kalamazoo as the Hornets lost 97-85 at Calvin College today. The sophomore forward from Kalamazoo (Hackett) was 14-of-17 from the field, including 5-of-6 from behind the arch. He was 3-of-6 at the free throw line while leading the team with seven rebounds.

The Hornets shot 50.0 percent for the game but were unable to keep pace with the Knights who shot 61.9 percent. Calvin held a 32-26 rebounding advantage.

Dirk Rhinehart scored 20 points for the Hornets on 6-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-6 three pointers. He was 4-for-4 at the line. Doug Lepisto had a career-high nine assists.

Chris Prins led five Calvin players in double figures with 20 points. Jeremy Veenstra scored 16 points with eight rebounds. Brian Krosschell scored 15, Nate Burgess had 14, and Bryan Foltice scored 11. Josh Tubergen also had eight rebounds.

Kalamazoo (5-9/0-2 MIAA) travels to Alma College on Wednesday to face the Scots at 7:30 p.m.
