
Men's Basketball falls to Hope in OTKalamazoo overcame a 43-37 halftime deficit to take a slight lead late in the second half. Hope recovered and tied the game with under 35 seconds to play. Dirk Rhinehart shot a twisting jumper in the lane that would not fall as time expired in regulation. Hope took an early lead in overtime and hit their free throws down the stretch to seal the win. Dirk Rhinehart had a game-high 23 points with five rebounds. Scott Montmorency added 16 points and eight boards. Doug Lepisto scored 13 points with a game-high eight assists. Nathan Burns added eight points and Nate Troyer had seven points. Ryan Klingler led six Hope players in double figures with 17 points and six rebounds. Kyle Maas scored 15 and Chad Zagar had 14. Chad Carlson had 13 points and eight rebounds and Don Overbeek scored 11 points with 10 rebounds. Rebounding was even at 49 for each team. Kalamazoo shot 37.3 percent from the field and 39.3 percent (11-28) from three-point range. Hope shot 36.9 percent overall and 46.7 percent (7-15) from behind the arch. Hope was 38-47 (80.9%) from the free throw line. Kalamazoo was 17-28 (60.7%) at the line. Kalamazoo had 17 turnovers to Hope's 16. Kalamazoo (5-8, 0-1 MIAA) returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Calvin College for a 3 p.m. start. |
