T.J. Thayer Named MIAA Player of the Week

T.J. Thayer (Lowell, Mich.) was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week after leading Kalamazoo College to a 23-20 victory at Adrian College Saturday.

The freshman quarterback accounted for 297 yards of total offense. He completed 13 of 22 passes for 169 yards with one interception and one touchdown. Thayer also rushed for 128 yards on 14 carries (9.1 avg), including a 75-yard touchdown run with 1:31 left in the game to tie the game at 20-20. The Hornets went on to win the game 23-20 with a field goal with five seconds remaining in regulation.

Thayer is the Hornets’ leading rusher with 460 yards on 96 carries (4.8 avg) with two touchdowns. He has completed 56 of 108 passes (51.9%) for 628 yards with eight interceptions and four touchdowns and a 98.10 efficiency rating.

The Hornets are 3-5 (2-3 MIAA) and travel to Hope College this Saturday for the final game of the season.
