Dillingham, Gerwin Earn National Football Honors

Jeff Dillingham (Birmingham, Mich./Groves HS) and Eric Gerwin (Beverly Hills, Mich./Groves HS) earned national honors for their performances in Kalamazoo College's 25-20 win last Saturday over visiting MacMurray College.

Dillingham, a senior cornerback/returner, was selected as a Co-Special Teams National Player of the Week by Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette. Dillingham returned two kickoffs for 102 yards with a long of 54 yards. He also returned six punts for 77 yards with a long of 26 yards. Defensively, Dillingham recorded three tackles and two pass breakups. The selections can be found on Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette website at http://www.thc.to/fbgazette/pow1010.htm. Dillingham currently ranks 12th in the nation in NCAA Division III with an average of 30.2 yards per kick return.

Gerwin, a senior linebacker, was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Gerwin recorded 10 total tackles (nine solo), with four tackles for loss and two sacks. The D3football.com Team of the Week can be found on D3football.com at http://www.d3football.com/tow/index.html. Gerwin leads the Hornets with 43 total tackles (30 solo) on the season. With his performance last week, Gerwin moved into second place in the Kalamazoo College record book with 291 career tackles. The record stands at 328.

Kalamazoo College is 1-3 on the season (0-1 MIAA) and hosts Albion College at homecoming this Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
