OLIVET, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College football team lost
14-10 at Olivet on Saturday, Oct. 15. The Hornets led 10-0
at halftime.
Dimeko Price scored the first touchdown of the game with
4:16 left in the first quarter on a 60-yard pass from Aaron
McGuire. Travis Braun gave the Hornets a 10-0 lead with a
27-yard field goal with 9:05 left in the second quarter.
Olivet's Mike Martin scored on a 65-yard touchdown run with
4:23 left in the third quarter to make it 10-7 Kalamazoo.
Martin scored again on a 3-yard run with 11:09 left in the
fourth to give Olivet the 14-10 lead.
Kalamazoo advanced the ball to the Olivet 24-yardline on
each of its last two possessions, but turned the ball over
on downs each time before Olivet ran out the clock for the
win.
Kalamazoo had 331 yards of total offense to Olivet's 243,
but the Hornets were penalized six times for 65 yards while
Olivet had just one penalty for five yards.
Dimeko Price rushed for 102 yards and caught two passes for
67 yards and a touchdown.
Aaron McGuire was 12-of-28 passing for 162 yards with a touchdown
and an interception. McGuire also rushed for 68 yards.
Jimmy Frye led the receivers with four catches for 33 yards.
Alan Mencer led the defense with 11 total tackles, including
2.5 for lost yardage. Mike Page had nine total tackles with
2.5 for lost yardage. Mencer, Page and Adam Cares each had
a quarterback sack.
Kalamazoo returns home to host Adrian in the Hornets' homecoming
game next Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. at Waldo Stadium.
