vs. Alma College (Homecoming)
KALAMAZOO - The football team suffered a 33-23 loss to Alma
on Saturday, Oct. 17. Alma returned the opening kickoff 90
yards for a touchdown and took a 20-14 lead into halftime.
Kalamazoo got within three points (26-23) with 10:13 left
in the fourth quarter, but Alma came right back with a five
minute scoring drive to go up 33-23. Kalamazoo drove to the
Alma 34, but could not convert on fourth down and Alma was
able to run out the clock for the win.
Brandon Luczak was 27-of-45 passing for 279 yards with three
touchdowns and an interception.
Ryan Bizzis led all receivers with nine catches for 112 yards.
Cory McCain had six catches for 76 yards and two touchdowns,
increasing his season record-setting total to 16. Jimmy Semelsberger
had five catches for 52 yards and became Kalamazoo College's
all-time leading receiver with 2,663 yards. Dimeko Price had
six catches for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Travis Braun made a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter.
Brandon Foutz led the Hornet defense with 18 total tackles.
Nate Kopydlowski had 11 tackles and a quarterback sack. Jake
Schell and Mike Murray were each on sacks. Murray and Nick
Sweda each had an interception.
Kalamazoo returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 24 at Trine.
