ALMA - The Kalamazoo College football team lost 56-17 at
Alma College on Saturday, Nov. 3. Alma led 21-0 after the
first quarter, but Kalamazoo made it 21-7 early in the second
quarter when Brandon Luczak connected with Mike Benson on
a 34-yard touchdown. Alma scored three times in the second
quarter and took a 42-7 lead into halftime.
Kalamazoo got on the board again early in the third quarter
when Jon Rea connected on a 33-yard field goal. Stephen Johnston
capped the Hornets' scoring with a two-yard touchdown run
early in the fourth quarter. Johnston led Kalamazoo with 115
yards rushing on 16 carries.
Brandon Luczak took over at quarterback early in the game
and went 27-of-43 passing for 271 yards with one touchdown
and three interceptions.
Randy Rzeznik had a team-high eight catches for 78 yards.
Jimmy Semelsberger had six catches for 70 yards. Mike Benson
had six catches for 57 yards. Stephen Johnston had 37 yards
receiving on five catches.
Blake MacDonald led the Kalamazoo defense with 11 total tackles.
Ryan Ouillette had eight tackles, an interception, a forced
fumble, and combined on a sack with Rob Duszynski.
