vs. Wisconsin Lutheran College (MIAA Contest)
KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College football team improved
to 2-2 in the MIAA and improved its home-win streak to six
games with a 31-19 win over Wisconsin Lutheran on homecoming.
Kalamazoo led 17-0 at halftime following Jordan Tallman touchdown
passes to Randy Rzeznik (4 yards) and Mike Leifeld (5 yards)
and a 24-yard field goal by Jon Rea.
Wisconsin Lutheran made it a 17-7 game with a touchdown with
8:08 left in the third quarter. The teams alternated two scoring
drives apiece in the fourth quarter, with Wisconsin Lutheran
scoring with eight seconds left in the game to make it 31-19.
Tallman threw second half touchdown passes to Jimmy Semeslberger
(1 yard) and Randy Rzeznik (25 yards).
Tallman connected with eight different receivers and finished
the day 30-of-47 for 294 yards with four touchdowns and no
interceptions. Randy Rzeznik had six catches for 102 yards
and two scores. Mike Benson had seven catches for 55 yards
in his first appearance of the season. Mike Leifeld had five
catches for 45 yards.
Stephen Johnston rushed for 119 yards on 16 carries.
Steve Charon led the Hornets' defense with eight total tackles.
Michael Herman had a 20-yard interception return. Ryan Case
had two sacks and Ryan Carrigan had a sack.
Wisconsin Lutheran's Matt Kehl rushed for 130 yards on 27
carries. T.J. Bodnar was 19-of-37 passing for 224 yards with
two touchdowns and an interception. Mike Olsen led the defense
with 12 total tackles.
Kalamazoo is tied for fourth in the MIAA with a 2-2 record.
The Hornets travel to Albion next Saturday.
