OLIVET - Turnovers proved costly for the Hornets in a 20-14
loss at Olivet on Saturday.
The Hornets lost one fumble and threw four interceptions.
All four interceptions took place in Olivet territory spoiling
potential scoring drives. The Hornets struggled offensively,
managing only 233 yards of total offense while allowing 421.
Olivet racked up 360 yards on the ground, led by Travis Sleight's
184 yards on 28 carries.
Olivet held a 17-7 lead at halftime. Jeff Green scored on
a three-yard pass from Tim Kaselitz with four seconds left
in the second quarter. The Hornets other touchdown was a 23-yard
run by Robbie Carollo with 9:52 left in the fourth quarter
which put the score at 20-14.
Tim Kaselitz was 17-of-35 passing for 182 yards with one
touchdown and four interceptions. He was sacked five times.
Jeff Green had 108 yards on eight catches, his second consecutive
100-yard game and fourth of the season. Mike Leifeld had six
catches for 56 yards.
Robbie Carollo had 51 yards rushing on eight carries.
Nick Toboy had eight tackles to lead Kalamazoo. Chris Werme
and Michael Herman each had an interception.
Travis Sleight led Olivet with 184 yards rushing on 28 carries.
Erik Jackson had 67 yards and Lonnie Jones had 64 yards. Quarterback
Chris Quackenbush had 41 rushing yards and one touchdown.
Quackenbush was 5-of-11 passing for 61 yards with one touchdown
and two interceptions. Rod Sanders had 31 yards receiving
on two catches. Chris Smith had two catches for 28 yards.
Olivet's Justin Hunwick made field goals of 27 and 32 yards.
Kalamazoo travels to Adrian next Saturday, Nov. 5.
