ALMA, Mich. - Kalamazoo College dropped a 34-20 decision at Alma College this afternoon. Alma led 27-0 at halftime.
Alma amassed 531 yards of total offense while holding Kalamazoo to 426 total yards. Kalamazoo rushed for 143 yards and passed for 283. Alma rushed for 145 yards and threw for 386.
Bryan Gnyp was 27-of-45 for 283 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. He now has 25 touchdown passes on the season, breaking the school record of 23 previously held by Gregg McDonald.
T.J. Thayer had a team-high 14 catches for 175 yards and a touchdown. His 14 receptions is the second-highest single game total in school history. Ben Farkas had four catches for 46 yards. Zach Ellis had three receptions for 30 yards and James Woodfork had two catches for 17 yards. Tim Kleinebreil had a five-yard touchdown reception late in the fourth quarter.
Bryan Gnyp was the Hornets' leading rusher with 72 yards on 10 carries. Dwight White had 43 yards on 13 carries. Matthew Jarboe had 23 yards on five carries. Jarboe also had a touchdown reception.
Alma quarterback Steve Slowke was 34-of-45 for 386 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Slowke also led the Scots in rushing with 73 yards on 16 carries. Jeremy Droptiny had 31 yards on 11 carries. James Edington had 28 yards on five carries with a touchdown.
Mark Boehms led the Scots with 195 receiving yards on 16 catches. Cole Thelen had five catches for 75 yards. Ryan Mikulich had four catches for 67 yards. Joe Galardi had four catches for 38 yards.
Jeremy Vanisacker led the Hornets' defense with 15 total tackles, including two and a half tackles for loss, and one sack. Brent Klein had 12 tackles including one for loss. Mark LaCombe and Conor Lefere each had an interception. Brian Baucher was also credited with a sack.
Kalamazoo (3-5, 0-4 MIAA) travels to MIAA newcomer Wisconsin-Lutheran next Saturday.
