November 10, 2001 - Kalamazoo College vs. Adrian College (MIAA Contest)

KALAMAZOO - Kalamazoo College lost its season finale 35-19 to Adrian College at Angell Field this afternoon. Adrian led 15-7 at halftime.

Kalamazoo trailed 35-13 with 4:13 left in the fourth quarter. The Hornets scored on a Gnyp touchdown run with 2:03 left in the game. The Hornets successfully recovered an onside kick but failed to get a first down and Adrian ran out the clock to end the game.

Dwight White rushed for 116 yards on 20 carries. He scored a touchdown on a two-yard run early in the third quarter.

Bryan Gnyp was 20-of-34 for 167 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Neil Laws with 1:21 left in the first quarter. Gnyp also scored on a two-yard run with 2:03 left in the fourth quarter to cut the Adrian lead to 35-19. Gnyp finished the season with 20 touchdown passes, the second highest total in school history. Gregg McDonald threw 23 touchdown passes in 1996.

T.J. Thayer had 12 receptions for 105 yards. Thayer set a school record with 81 receptions in a season. His 1,538 career receiving yards ranks third in the Hornet record books, and 956 yards this season ranks second.

Jason Charnly had three catches for 60 yards.

Brant Haverdink had 12 tackles including three for lost yardage. He finishes with 97 tackles on the season and 241 for his career.

Mark LaCombe, Brad Zielaskowski, and Brent Klein each had seven tackles today. Eric Page had four tackles.

Kevin Bostelman led Adrian with 179 yards rushing on 28 carries. He scored three touchdowns including one from 71 yards with 4:07 left in the third quarter. Jamil Mackie had eight carries for 24 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Joe Davis was 10-of-17 for 116 yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Kalamazoo finishes with its second straight winning season with a record of 5-4.
