KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College baseball
team won the first of a three-game MIAA series with Olivet College 10-4
Friday afternoon.
Ben Tucker (2-6) scattered 13 hits in a complete-game effort. He struck
out seven batters while walking two and hitting two. Tucker worked his
way out of several tough spots as Olivet left 15 runners on base.
The Hornet offense was alive today as Kalamazoo cranked out 15 hits, including
three doubles. Joe Wicklander was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
Pat Ellis was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored. Brent
LeVasseur was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Ross Gladding was 2-for-3 with two
RBIs. Nathan Brouwer was 2-for-4. T.J. Thayer was 2-for-3. Garry Penta
also had a double.
Kalamazoo is now 4-9 in the MIAA (8-21 overall). Olivet is 5-8 in the MIAA
(11-21 overall). The two teams return to action on Saturday with a doubleheader
starting at 1 p.m.
