
April 20, 2001 - Kalamazoo College vs. Calvin College (MIAA Single 9-inning Game)
KALAMAZOO - Kalamazoo College lost the first game of a three-game weekend series 6-1 to Calvin College this afternoon. Calvin scored six runs on 11 hits with no errors. Kalamazoo had one run on seven hits with four errors.
Brent LeVasseur and Jim Hurd each had two hits for Kalamazoo. LeVasseur scored Kalamazoo's only run and Hurd had the RBI. Ben Tucker (1-5) took the loss for Kalamazoo, allowing 11 hits with five walks and eight strikeouts.
Ross Hunderman and Matt DeHoek each had two hits for Calvin. Aaron Wiers had a home run and three RBIs. Each Calvin player in the lineup had a hit. Mike Ott (4-1) earned the win, scattering seven hits while walking two and striking out four.
Kalamazoo is now 5-15 overall and 1-6 in the MIAA. League-leading Calvin improves to 16-8 overall and 9-1 in the MIAA. The two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader tomorrow (4/21) at 1 p.m. at Kalamazoo's Woodworth Field.
