
April 18, 2001 - Kalamazoo College vs. Concordia College
KALAMAZOO - Kalamazoo ended a seven-game
losing streak with an 11-0 win over Concordia College Wednesday afternoon.
Jim Hurd hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to
enact the mercy rule and end the game.
Zach Burton and Ben Tucker combined for the shutout. Burton (2-2) pitched
six innings and scattered three hits while striking out eight and walking
only two. Tucker pitched the seventh inning and struck out two batters.
Pat Ellis was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Aaron Thornburg was 2-for-4
with three runs scored and two RBIs. Seven other players had a hit apiece.
Kalamazoo is now 5-14 on the season. The Hornets return to action this
Friday and Saturday when they host MIAA rival Calvin College.
