Kalamazoo College vs. Univ. of Rio Grande (Ohio) at Panama City, Fla.

The Kalamazoo College baseball team was able to withstand a late-inning rally to beat Rio Grande University, 4-3.

The Hornets scored all of their runs in the first two innings while Garry Penta held the opponents scoreless through the first four innings. Rio Grande scored one run in each of the last three innings, but it was too little too late as the Hornets earned their first win of the season.

Nathan Brouwer had two hits and an RBI. Pat Ellis had a triple and two RBI. Conor Lefere, Brent LaVasseur, and Ross Gladding each had hits. Gladding also had an RBI.

Kalamazoo is 1-2 now on the season.
