Calvin wins in final at-bat
GRAND RAPIDS - Calvin College overcame a 5-2 deficit with four runs in
the bottom of the ninth to walk away with a 6-5 victory over visiting Kalamazoo
College in a single nine-inning game today. The Hornets led 3-2 after seven
innings and added one run in the top half of the eighth and ninth innings,
but failed to shut the door as the Knights scored four runs on three hits
and three walks in their last at-bat.
Jeff Dillingham, Ross Gladding, Steve Lucas, and Jim Hurd each had hits
for Kalamazoo. Calvin had seven hits.
Kalamazoo returns to action on Wednesday when they host Aquinas College
in a non-conference game at 4:00 p.m.
