Kalamazoo Baseball Drops Season Opener

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College baseball team dropped its season opener 7-3 to Tri-State University today. With temperatures below freezing the teams opted to play one nine-inning game instead of the scheduled doubleheader.

Tri-State led 3-0 after the first inning and 5-3 after five innings. The Thunder out hit the Hornets 10-8 while both teams left five runners on base.

Jeff Dillingham was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Dave Adamji and Ross Gladding also had a pair of hits for the Hornets.

Rick Sharp suffered the loss after pitching the first two innings. Matt Rix struck out four batters in three innings while allowing a run. Freshman Ben Tucker gave up only one hit in three innings of work while striking out one and walking none.
