The Women's Resource Center seeks to provide a safe,
supportive, and educational environment open to the entire
Kalamazoo College student population (women and men). The
WRC also seeks to promote communication, community, and
confidentiality for women on campus.

- a strong women-centered community
- a place to promote increased understanding between
women and men
- contraception and health information
- education including body awareness, health, sexuality,
and women's history
- library resources
- an open forum environment where ideas may be
freely expressed
- referrals to women-friendly professionals in
the Kalamazoo area
A Living Learning Housing Unit with
women as its concentration and concern will provide the
safe and supportive environment that a simple organization
could not. Via visibility and active participation in
the Kalamazoo College community, the WRC will help promote
understanding and tolerance.

Sports
& Fitness House
Location:

|
The Sports & Fitness House is estbalished
for the purpose of bolstering the overall physical and mental
health of its occupants and the enitre campus community.
Beyond raising awareness of teh importance of fitness in
general, the house will seek to highlight the benefits of
creating balance between academics, physical activity, and
nutrition. Additionally, we promote the addition of simple
actions such as considering healthy food selections, participating
in regular exercise, etc. and encourage the habituation
of these steps into the already hectic routines of Kalamazoo
College students. The house will be a source for any student
who is searching for a manner in which to truly better his
or her education and lifestyle.
The house will be a strong and positive
reference for the students of "K" regarding their
personal fitness. The house will act as a source of constant
motivation for those isnide and outside of the house, offering
a foundation of dedicated inviduals whose responsibility
to themselves and respect for others will hopefully serve
as inspiration to other.

Sustainability
House

The Sustainability House will
provide a model of sustainable living for the Kalamazoo College
campus. As a focal point of sustainability, it will work to
connect the other environmentally-concerned groups in the
community working toward a global ideal of environmentally
sound living. Priorities for the house include recognizing
and developing our niche in the environment sustainably, global
revolution, and the necessity of interconnectedness among
college campuses nation-wide. The house acts as an educational
tool and an avenue for community collaboration. Sustainable
cooperation will revolve around reducing our ecological footprints,
while also meeting the needs of today without jeopardizing
the health of the planet for future generations. The house
will embody a cause and serve as a vehicle for positive social
cahnge toward equality by rejecting the environmental and
cultural exploitation that perpetuates the abuses against
the Earth and its peoples. The house does all this in the
effort to ensure the future of its members, the future of
the Kalamazoo community, and for the future of life on Earth.

Music
House

The members of the Music House
will work towards raising cultural awareness and cultural
understanding through music exchange. The house will support
local and student artists, and provide activities and events
that build a sense of community through the universal medium
of music. The house will also help educate people of all skill
levels on music creation and manipulation. |

The residents of the Wellness
House will strive to promote wellness not only in their own
lives but also throughout the Kalamazoo College community.
Specifically, we aim to enhance, through our own work and
collaboration with others, the nutritional, emotional, and
physical wellness within the members of the house and the
campus as a whole. |

The members of the Leadership & Community
House strongly believe in the importance of developing as
an individual in order to connect as a community. The purpose
of the house is to allow individuals to better express themselves
in order for the community of students on campus to connect
in a more meaningful way and, further, to connect to the larger
community on campus and within the city of Kalamazoo. |
