All AP, international baccalaureate and dual enrollment credits must be sent to the Registrar no later than the end of the first quarter of enrollment. These credits will not be considered after this time.

  • Dual enrollment work must be at a grade of "B" or better.
  • Students bringing in dual enrollment credit will be classified as first-year students throughout the entire first year and held responsible for policies in effect for first-year students.
  • Dual enrollment credit may not be used to fulfill the First-Year Seminar requirement, but may be used to fulfill all other general education requirements (language, quantitative reasoning, area of study, or cultures).
  • Dual enrollment credit may be used towards majors, minors and concentrations only at the discretion of departmental faculty. It is the student's responsibility to seek this approval and ensure that the Registrar's Office receives approval in writing from the department chair.

THE CONNECTION BETWEEN PLACEMENTS RESULTS AND AP, IB, AND DUAL ENROLLMENT

In the areas of language and math, Kalamazoo College placement results are the primary factor in determining where students begin their studies. Students with AP scores of 4 or 5 and those with dual enrollment credits in either language or math must take placement exams. If placement exam show a proficiency level lower than that the AP or dual enrollment credit indicated, AP or dual enrollment credit will be reevaluated at a lower level or refuted altogether.

Example: A student who completed less than two years of high school German and also took GER101 at another university or college before coming to "K" should take the German placement exam. If the exam indicates that the student should enter GER101, the dual enrollment credit for GER101 will be removed from the student's record. Students and advisors working with dual enrollment credits should note that such credits may be reevaluated once placement results have been received.
