Kalamazoo College seeks an individual who can provide guidance, expertise, and help build capacity as the College and its faculty address issues related to diversity in the curriculum. We are looking for a faculty member with experience in curricular innovation and/or program leadership related to ethnic studies who will work with our faculty individually and in groups across all disciplines to enhance our capacity toward re-visioning curriculum and pedagogy. We seek someone who will work us to continue to identify long-term sustainable ways to have the curriculum of the college appropriately represent the widest possible diversity of humanity, particularly U.S. domestic diversity. Applicants for this visiting faculty position must have academic credentials in the fine arts, humanities or human sciences. Expertise in one or more of the following areas desired critical ethnic studies; comparative ethnic studies; critical race studies; African-American, Asian-American, Latin@ or Chican@, American Indian Studies. While a two-year (2013-2014 and 2014-2015) appointment is ideal, flexible terms and start date may be negotiated. We anticipate the visiting faculty teaching one course each quarter and engaging with faculty across the campus in conversations about and other programming around curriculum and pedagogy.
