
Kalamazoo College invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level. Expertise in Latin America and the anthropology of health and medicine required. Special consideration will be given to those with a specialization in gender and sexuality. A three-year appointment as one of two inaugural Faculty Chairs in Social Justice is likely, providing the faculty with a professional research fund and affiliation and close collaboration with our newly established Center for Social Justice Leadership. The Chair appointment will require evidence of deep commitment to issues of social justice and human rights through scholarship, teaching, or practice. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a high aptitude for and interest in undergraduate teaching including contributing to the College’s “Shared Passages” seminar series (first-year, sophomore, and senior seminars), a commitment to the liberal arts, and a desire to involve undergraduates in scholarship both in and out of the classroom. Ph.D. (or evidence it will be completed by September 1, 2010) required. Salary is competitive and consistent with level of experience. Members of the search committee will be available at the December AAA meeting in Philadelphia for preliminary conversations with applicants.
