Faculty Development Committee
Visit the Faculty Development Committee's web page for information on applying for development funds, academic leaves and sabbatical leaves. In addition to Faculty Development Committee awards, tenure-track faculty are eligible for research funding and a post-4th year review leave made possible by the New Faculty/Lambert account.

Faculty Personnel Committee
Visit the Faculty Personnel Committee's web page for information on the retention/review process, information on what to submit for your review file, and a schedule of this year's timeline for retention reviews.

Faculty Study
Each term, faculty members present a program on recent activities in their fields. As an outcome of writing the college's self-study for our recent NCAA reaccreditation, Bob Stauffer presented a faculty study talk entitled, "Of History, Sagas, and the 'K Plan': In Quest of a Usable Past."

Faculty Teach Munches
Organized by the Committee on Teaching, the faculty teach gatherings are held during the term. These offer an opportunity for faculty to gather and discuss topics of common interest related to teaching.

Grant Assistance
The Director of Faculty Grants and Institutional Research assists faculty with identifying and pursuing research grants.

New Faculty Orientation
The New Faculty Orientation events begin with the Course Design and Teaching Workshop led by Professor Gail Griffin and guest workshop facilitator, Dr. Peter Frederick, and continue throughout the academic year with workshops and meetings organized by Associate Provost Lanny Potts.

New Faculty Partner
New full-time faculty are assigned a Faculty Partner to act as a resource person as they become acquainted with aspects of the academic life at K College.

Take a Professor to Lunch
This program, underwritten by a gift to the college, provides an opportunity for a student on a meal plan to 'host' a faculty member for lunch at Hicks Center. For details, please call the Provost's Office at 337-7162.

DOCUMENTS & POLICIES

Faculty Handbook
Documents including the faculty bylaws and policies of faculty committees to assist faculty members in acquainting themselves with the policies and standards of various units of the college, the operation of faculty committees, and resources available.

Faculty Search Procedures and Guidelines
Finding outstanding new colleagues is among the most important things we can do for the future of Kalamazoo College. This document outlines the procedures to follow when conducting a search.

Guidelines for Departmental External Reviews
This document suggests the steps to take in setting up an external review for self-study and planning.

Honor System
Interprets the broad principles of the Honor System, a set of mutually held principles that our students, faculty and staff agree to live by.

Professional Update Form
An annual form requested by the Provost early each spring for the preceding calendar year of faculty activities. Faculty please submit your 2007-08 update and c.v. by April 25. [ In a Word doc.]

PROVOST AREAS

Academic AdvisingDow
The Dean of First-Year and Advising coordinates the team of faculty and administrators who serve as academic advisors. The advisors help students set educational goals, make appropriate choices to meet requirements, and realize their potential.

Academic Resource Center
The ARC offers peer assistance in math, writing, and science.

Associate Provost
The Associate Provost works closely with the departments and the Registrar in setting course scheduling and enrollments. The Associate Provost hires all part-time faculty, oversees new faculty orientation activities, reviews course evaluations, and moderates student complaints.

Center for Career Development
The Center focuses on helping students identify, seek out, apply for, and secure career opportunities. About 74% of all "K" students complete at least one internship, many of them complete two.

Center for International Programs
The CIP assists students in attending "K" sponsored programs and additional approved programs run by other colleges. 85% of our graduates in the last 40 years have studied abroad.

Class Deans
The Class Deans serve as a "go to" person for students with a problem or a concern. Class Deans help students navigate the critical issues and events of a particular year and increase the sense of community within and between each class.

Faculty Grants and Institutional Research
Information on external funding to support faculty research, creative, curricular, community, and outreach endeavors. Also, this office collects and analyzes data to support decision-making, strategic planning, and assessment of student learning.

Guilds
Guilds are a membership organization of students, alumni, faculty, staff and individuals in the community organized around common interdisciplinary themes to provide professional preparation, networking, and additional integration between the academic world and the world outside of college.

Information Services
Information and resources on the library, computer services, technology, and media services.

Registrar's Office
Information and resources including schedule of classes, academic calendars, exam week schedules, and New Course Proposal forms.

Service Learning
The Underwood Stryker Institute for Service-Learning strengthens the community and promotes academic learning, personal growth and civic responsibility among our students.
